Halfway through the season I felt that there needed to be a little bit of a shakeup. So, I arranged for the team to visit a collegiate baseball campus, specifically the University of New Orleans. The goal was to immerse them in the atmosphere of a collegiate game and its surrounding activities.
Attending the game wasn't just about watching baseball; it was about providing the players with a tangible glimpse into what it means to be a collegiate player. I wanted them to visualize themselves in that setting, to see that it's not just a dream but an attainable goal with dedication and hard work.
During the visit, we had the opportunity to tour the facilities and engage with assistant coaches. This allowed the players to gain insights directly from those involved in collegiate baseball. The coaches reinforced the core messages of Code Sports: emphasizing character, skill development, the importance of grades, and overall commitment to the game.
Overall, the trip was about more than just watching a game—it was about planting seeds of aspiration and possibility in the minds of these young athletes. By experiencing firsthand what it takes to play at the collegiate level, they were able to envision their own paths to success.
