My internship focused on empowering these young men to enhance their chances of becoming recruitable high school athletes and to make themselves more appealing to colleges. In my experience, earning a spot as a collegiate athlete isn't just about skill—it's about colleges feeling confident in the player's character and commitment.

Simple actions like how they carry themselves on the field or how they handle disagreements with umpires can make or break their recruitment prospects. College programs are looking for players who not only excel in their sport but also demonstrate strong character and professionalism. Typically, you have to be a standout player for colleges to overlook any character flaws. Unfortunately, our team currently lacks players who fit that mold.

It's a tough reality to face, but it's also an opportunity for growth. As we continue to work with these players, it's crucial to emphasize the importance of not just their performance on the field, but also their behavior and attitude. By helping them develop both their athletic skills and their character, we can increase their chances of catching the eye of college recruiters and securing opportunities at the next level
