Resources are Key

- In examining the fundamental issues hindering progress, it became evident that a significant hurdle was the lack of resources. This encompassed various aspects: the absence of fundamental resources for the players, the lack of parental involvement, the school's tepid commitment to baseball, and the absence of proper guidance for the players.

Comparing high school Catholic schools, which typically boast more resources, to public schools in New Orleans highlighted the disparities. Baseball often takes a backseat in public schools' funding priorities, particularly in inner-city settings like ours. This reality underscores the broader struggles faced by inner-city schools and paints a clear picture of the uphill battle we're facing.

As I pondered how to overcome these challenges and steer players in the right direction for recruitment, I realized it would require a multi-faceted approach. It's not just about the players themselves—it's about rallying support from parents, school officials, and the community at large. Setting a standard and fostering a collective effort are essential components of this process.

Ultimately, there needs to be a concerted effort to provide support for these young men. By working together and establishing a network of support, we can create an environment where they have the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to succeed both on and off the field.
