In the Port Allen Tournament, we kicked things off with a tough loss. With games coming at us fast, I didn't waste any time addressing the team after that first defeat. I dove right in, pointing out that I believed our loss was directly linked to our lack of effort in the weight room. It was a wake-up call—I stressed the importance of taking every day seriously if we wanted to achieve our long-term goals.

After our heart-to-heart conversation, the team stepped up their game. We finished the tournament strong, going 3-1 in our remaining matches. Ending with a 3-2 record felt like a solid outcome, considering our initial stumble. What's more, I started noticing some positive changes in the team dynamics. Good habits were forming, and consistency was becoming the norm.

Certain players really stood out, elevating their performance and demonstrating solid habits. It was clear that they were starting to understand the value of hard work and dedication. And for those players with aspirations to play college baseball, this was a crucial moment. It's not just about talent—it's about showing college scouts that you have the work ethic and drive to continually improve. This tournament was just the beginning of that journey.
