MY PERSONAL INTRODUCTION

Today was my second day with the John F. Kennedy High School baseball team, and I felt it was time for me to ask Coach Sims for the opportunity to formally introduce myself to the team and the reason why I was there. As practice kicked off, I got my chance to step up and introduce myself to the team. My approach was to keep it simple, mentioning my coaching background in college football and throwing in the fact that I'd won a national championship with LSU.

The reactions were mixed. Some players were hyped up and you could see it in their eyes, while others, look like they were sizing me up and still wondering what a football guy was doing coaching baseball.

Because I could see the confusion on some of their faces, I started to tie in Code Sports and the purpose of Code Sports in aiding them in the recruiting process for those who wanted to play in college,

and the entire situation started to make more sense for all of them. I explained that I a there to simply help with education, about the recruiting process but also how they should be carrying themselves daily. This was a great talk because I think they started to look at me in a different light and it became welcoming.

By the end of the day, I could sense a shift in the vibe. Some of those skeptical looks had been removed, replaced by intrigue hope, and maybe even a bit of respect. It's gonna take time to win everyone over, but I knew what I signed up for in the beginning.
